Welcome to the JMS Media Center! 

Mission Statement

The library media center's mission is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The mission is accomplished by:

  • providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats

  • providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas

  • working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students

Internet Access

REMINDER: No AUP (Acceptable Use Policy or Parental Permission Form) on file  = no assessing the Internet or DISCUS databases  

Student usage of computers in the library media center must be consistent with the Mairon County School District "Acceptable Use Policy" and library procedures. These apply before, during, and after school. Any student using the  Internet or assessing one of the DISCUS databases must have a parent signature on the completed form on file in the media center.  Access to the Internet is a privilege, not a right. Computers in the library media center are for educational purposes only. Students must have parental permission and supervision of a faculty member in order to access the Internet. 



Checkout Privileges

PLEASE NOTE: A student must have a pictured school ID and no outstanding library fines for checking out books.

· Books: 3 per patron

· Book Loan Period: 2 weeks; may renew for two weeks


Overdue Fines

· Late Books: FIVE (5¢) cents per school day per item overdue

  • Maximum Fine: $5.00 for each book

 Computer Printing & Copy Fees

· Black & White Printing: Ten (10¢) per page; Color Printing:Twenty Five (25¢) per page

Lost or Damaged Books & Refunds:

· Lost Books: the cost of replacing the volume

· Damaged Books: minor repairs performed by library media staff; books beyond repair — replacement cost of book

· Refunds: a refund issued for found books, only for the school year 

 Students are responsible for all materials they check out from the Media Center. Lost books and materials must be paid for by the student who checked them out.
